For much of my life, I’ve worn many different crowns.

Some were literal, earned through pageantry and service. Others came in the form of titles that have shaped me far more deeply: wife, mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, mentor, and woman of faith.

As a mother of four, grandmother of two with another grandchild on the way, business owner, former Mrs. Texas International, and pageant judge, I’ve learned that the most meaningful accomplishments in life are not measured by awards, recognition, or titles. They are measured by the lives we impact, the lessons we share, and the confidence we help inspire in others.

My journey into pageantry began as a personal challenge. Like many women, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone, grow my confidence, and discover what I was capable of achieving. What I found was far greater than a crown. I found my voice.

Pageantry taught me how to communicate with confidence, carry myself with intention, and lead with authenticity. It challenged me to grow in ways I never expected and revealed a truth that continues to guide my life today:

Confidence isn’t about perfection—it’s about purpose.

There was a time when I worried too much about meeting expectations and comparing myself to others. In a world that often encourages women to seek validation through appearance, accomplishments, or approval, it’s easy to lose sight of who we truly are. The turning point came when I stopped striving to be what everyone else expected and started embracing who God created me to be.

That shift changed everything.

I learned that confidence isn’t something you’re born with. It’s something you build. It grows through experience, resilience, faith, and the courage to keep showing up even when you feel uncertain. Every challenge becomes an opportunity to grow stronger. Every setback becomes a lesson. Every season of life has something valuable to teach us.

Today, I have the privilege of helping others discover that same confidence through my business, Pageant Hearts Consulting. While many people know me through the pageant world, my true passion has always been helping women and young ladies recognize their worth, develop their voice, and step into leadership with confidence.

Through coaching, mentorship, and my signature program, The Crown Within, I help clients strengthen their mindset, improve communication skills, develop stage presence, and embrace the unique qualities that make them who they are. While some of my clients are preparing for pageants, the lessons extend far beyond the stage. Confidence, self-belief, and authentic leadership are skills that impact every area of life.

One of the greatest joys of my work is watching someone move from self-doubt to self-confidence. Seeing a young woman walk into an interview believing in herself, hearing a client speak with conviction about her goals, or watching someone finally recognize her own potential reminds me why this work matters.

As women, we often spend so much time caring for others that we forget to invest in ourselves. We pour into our families, our businesses, our communities, and our careers. While those roles are important, we cannot lead others effectively if we neglect our own growth.

I’ve learned the importance of creating space for faith, reflection, rest, and personal development. Sustainable leadership isn’t about doing more; it’s about remaining grounded in your values and living with intention.

My faith has been the foundation that carries me through every season. It reminds me that my identity is not found in a title, a business, or an accomplishment. My identity is found in Christ. Knowing that truth has given me the freedom to pursue opportunities with confidence while remembering that my worth has never depended on external success.

Today, as a wife, mother of four, grandmother of two with another on the way, entrepreneur, mentor, and woman of faith, I understand that the greatest legacy we leave is not found in what we achieve, but in how we encourage others to believe in themselves.

Looking ahead, my mission remains simple: to help women of all ages discover the confidence that already exists within them.

Whether you’re pursuing a dream, starting a business, raising a family, stepping into leadership, or simply learning to believe in yourself again, know this: your voice matters, your story matters, and your purpose matters.

You do not need a crown to make an impact.

The most powerful crown you will ever wear is the confidence, character, and purpose you carry within.

That is the true Crown Within.

Natalie McLarty is the reigning Mrs. Texas for America’s Most Beautiful Pageant, an award-winning pageant coach, speaker, former pageant judge, and the founder of Pageant Hearts Consulting. A former Mrs. Texas International, Natalie returned to the competition stage with a renewed purpose: to empower women to discover that true confidence begins long before a crown is ever placed on their head.

Through her signature coaching program, The Crown Within, Natalie equips women and girls with the mindset, interview skills, stage presence, and authentic confidence needed to succeed in pageantry and beyond. Her coaching emphasizes personal growth, resilience, leadership, and purpose, helping each competitor embrace her unique story while presenting the very best version of herself.

Outside of pageantry, Natalie and her husband own and operate several family businesses in Victoria, Texas. She is passionate about encouraging women to lead with confidence, serve with compassion, and recognize that their greatest strength comes from the character they build and not just the titles they earn. Whether coaching, speaking, judging, or representing Texas on the national stage, Natalie is committed to helping others discover the confidence to live, lead, and shine from the inside out.
